The answer will surprise most Protestant Christians. However, most Protestant pastors don't understand the Bible practically. Instead, they understand it traditionally. That is because modern-day Christianity, unfortunately, has its roots in Catholicism, and Catholicism believes that to be righteous, you have to be poor. So, the Protestant Church adopted that false doctrine.
Catholicism doctrine teaches poverty is piety and wealth is wickedness. That is not a Biblical doctrine; it's just a religious doctrine! Jewish people, however, don't have that belief. And by religions, I mean a religious institution devising its theories and rules that you must adhere to, claiming that if you follow them, you will please God.
However, the Bible asserts that God can only be appeased by God Himself. He will not be appeased by you or me, regardless of any rules or theories we create to appease Him.
Because of these doctrines, most Protestant religions teach poverty as piety and wealth as wickedness or money as the root of evil. Additionally, the church adopts this belief because it is easier for the church and society at large to control poor religious people than wealthy and well-informed outliers who believe in God.
Another reason is that most Protestant pastors teach the Biblical Doctrine so their members can know it instead of teaching it so they can do it.
The Bible, in its essence and God's intention for it, is a practical guide for how we should live. And I genuinely believe that!
